My love of all things relating to the Renaissance Era lead me to learning how to paint in oils some 12 years ago. Oils are my first love though I also work in Watercolour for book illustrations and dabble a bit in acrylic for landscape paintings. These monochromatic portrait pieces are a tribute to Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Johannes Vermeer. The subtleties one has to employ using only one colour to produce an image, has been both challenging, exhilarating and hugely testing of my endurance to keep going ... it never feels finished!
