This octogenarian artist hails from the Black Forest area in Germany. Siegfried emigrated to
South Africa in the early sixties as a graphic designer to set up printing machines in Cape
Town.
He has raised four children, built a few yachts, travelled extensively and to this day paints,
gardens, plays golf, hikes and visits family and friends abroad.
He lives in Hout Bay, Cape Town and in Robertson. He has no formal training in painting as
such but has allowed his style to evolve over the years from charcoal and pencil sketches to the
more technical and detailed oil paintings he does today. He is inspired mostly by his immediate
surroundings but also challenges himself by doing the odd portrait or commission.
